Crystal Wyrm Team

Our Story & Mission

We started Crystal Wyrm because honestly, creative people needed lawyers who actually get it. Too many artists, content creators, and digital innovators were getting lost in the legal maze, so we built something different - a firm that speaks your language and fights like hell for your work.

How We Got Here

2018 - The Beginning

Started in a cramped office above a coffee shop on Granville. Three lawyers, way too much ambition, and a shared frustration with how the industry treated creators. We knew there had to be a better way.

2020 - Growing Pains

Moved to our downtown location and brought on specialists in digital rights - turns out streaming platforms and NFTs were gonna be huge. Who knew? (Actually, our clients did, and we listened.)

2022 - Big Wins

Landed some major cases protecting indie game developers and musicians from content theft. Won most of 'em too. Turned out our approach - treating clients like partners, not case numbers - actually worked.

2025 - Right Now

We're 15 lawyers strong, handling everything from trademark disputes to entertainment contracts. Still in Vancouver, still fighting for creators, still refusing to talk like robots in court documents.

What We Stand For

Look, legal stuff is complicated enough without adding unnecessary jargon. We explain things in plain English (or French, if that's your thing). You'll actually understand what's happening with your case, your contracts, your rights. No smoke and mirrors - just straight-up honest advice about your options and realistic outcomes.

We've represented indie filmmakers, game designers, musicians, authors, digital artists - you name it. Started because we were tired of seeing talented people get screwed over by bad contracts or outright theft. Your creative work matters, and we treat it that way. Not just another file on the desk, y'know?

When someone's ripping off your content or a deal's falling apart, you can't wait three days for your lawyer to call back. We get that. Most emails get answered same-day, urgent stuff even faster. Because in the digital world, things move quick and your legal team should too.

Sure, we can handle the legal paperwork - that's table stakes. But we also think about your bigger picture. How does this contract affect your next project? What's the smartest way to build your IP portfolio? Sometimes the best legal move isn't the obvious one, and we're here to map that out with you.

We're not looking for fights, but we won't back down from them either. If negotiation works, great - saves everyone time and money. But when someone's blatantly violating your rights and won't play fair? Yeah, we'll take it to court and we'll bring receipts. We've litigated against major studios, publishers, and platforms, and held our own.

Tech and media law changes constantly. AI-generated content, blockchain rights, streaming royalties - new issues pop up all the time. We stay on top of it through conferences, working with tech experts, and honestly, just paying attention to what's actually happening in creative industries. Can't protect what you don't understand.
